Pre-Kindergarten Programs
The Pre-K program at St. Leo School run during the regular school year and follow the St. Leo School calendar.
In order to enter the Pre-K3 (3 year old program or Pre-K4 (4 year old program), a child must be of age by August 31 of the year they are entering. All Pre-K students must be fully potty trained (no diapers or pull-ups), able to clearly communicate the need to potty, and able to clean themselves. They must also be able to dress and undress themselves when using the bathroom.
Religion: The Religion program is to cultivate a Catholic/Christian atmosphere inspired by the Gospel values of love and respect. We use the "Stories of God's Love" program.
-Develop an understanding that God loves everyone
-Understand that God wants us to treat each other with love and respect
-Be introduced to the Sign of the Cross
-Be introduced to formal prayers and song

-Be introduced to Bible stories
-Create an art project that corresponds to the Bible story
Socialization And Development: The Socialization and Development program is to develop the whole student physically, spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally. It is important to encourage the students to make choices, act independently, and develop a sense of responsibility and respect for themselves and others.
Socially

-Interact cooperatively with others
-Be a polite listener
-Express needs and feelings in words
-Display self-confidence

-Respect the property of others
Developmentally
-Work/play well independently
-Zip his/her clothes
-Button his/her clothes

LANGUAGE AND LITERACY: The Language and Literacy program is to develop the whole student in all the areas of language arts through the "World of Wonders" program.
Language
-Speak clearly and be understood
-Pronounce words correctly
-Speak in sentences
-Use words accurately
-Use adequate vocabulary for age
-Recite simple poems, finger plays, and songs
-Participate in group discussions
Listening
-Respond when addressed
-Understand and follow simple directions
-Be encouraged to listen to simple poems, finger plays, and songs
-Develop listening skills
Reading
-Develop the concept of print
-Recognize that print is talk on paper
-Identify alphabet letters beginning with the Letter People
-Recognize differences in shapes, size, and signs
-Learn left to right progression
-Recognize sequences of pictures and illustrations
-Interpret pictures
-Identify his/her own name
-Regnognize upper/lower case letters
